when to book

Hi we are coming to NY next June it will be our first visit . Thinking of staying near central park 4- 5 star. When would be the best time to book hotel for best rates. sue

when to book

Personally I would book something now, ensure it%26#39;s cancellable and that way if you see a better deal as time goes on you can cancel the original hotel. If you are only going for 3/4 nights then priceline is quite good for getting higher star hotels at bargain prices but this can only be done a week or two beforehand.

when to book

thanks we are coming for 7 nights so looking for luxury comfortable hotel

If you book directly with the hotel, you don%26#39;t have to prepay anything and if rates go down, they should give you the better rate. You might also pick a few hotels you like and go on their email list for specials. The Ritz Carlton Central Park is one of the nicest hotels in the city and right across from the park. Trump International is also there as is the Mandarin Oriental.

The Sofitel, while not so near the park (about 15 blocks or 15 minute walk) is probably the nicest 4*.

I should add that June is a very busy time with weddings and graduations so I wouldn%26#39;t count on a great bargain.

Sorry, another thought, kayak.com and sidestep.com are websites that check lots of other websites for prices and are supposed to provide you the best price. You don%26#39;t buy from them, they just tell you where to go. It%26#39;s not foolproof but a good guide if you want to check. USUALLY, these days, the hotel itself should give you the best price. Quikbook.com is another website I like. There you do book through them.

thanks! will look on hotel sites at their offers

Last sunday in june (June 24) is Gay Pride and the week preceeding (17--24) it is always very busy, especially in Chelsea and the Village.

I%26#39;m going 3rd - 10th so should be less busy. Just can%26#39;t decide to book now or nearer the time .I have to keep these dates because after our new york trip we are sailing on a transatlantic crossing on the Queen Mary back to England this departs on 10th and is already booked.

Definitely make a no deposit/cancellable reservation! There%26#39;s no downside to doing that: prices in general are certainly unlike to drop in the next 8+ months, and this way you ensure that you%26#39;ll have a place to stay with the luxury of waiting to see if a special promotion offer makes itself known in the interim.

I am going later this month and booked hotels in January! At the time I thought the rates were high and like you wondered whether to wait to get a late deal. Oh boy am I glad I didn%26#39;t! I booked a non-cancellable net direct rate of $323 pn with Hilton for 3 nights in Times Square and a cancellable rate of $315 pn with quikbook for 2 nights at The Michelangelo( Deluxe King room). Whilst this is not cheap I definitely wouldn%26#39;t have been able to book these hotels at current prices. I have watched the rates steadily increase over the months (with not a hint of smugness - honest!).

I would agree that the best option is to make a cancellable booking either direct with the hotel or through a reputable website like quikbook and then keep checking for specials. I never found any for the dates I%26#39;m going but you may be luckier.

Another site which was showing some really good rates in 拢 and inclusive of taxes (which can be a bit of a shock!!!) is www.cityandshow.co.uk. I was really tempted to change a couple of times but stuck with my original choices and am praying I%26#39;ve made the right decision.

Hope this helps with making your decision.
