Authentic NY Diner

Hi All NY Experts

Can you recommend an authentic NY Diner please - lots of chrome, maybe 50%26#39;s style, bar stools etc etc.

Nice quality food also an advantage :-)

Many Thanks

Roj

Have you looked at the Cheyenne? (made famous here on the Tropicana advert!)

Different price range and a bit fancier is the Brooklyn Diner

Have a look at the reviews of both on menupages.com

Authentic NY Diner

Brooklyn Diner is actually a newbie local chain that was created to mimic and re-create real, authentic diners. I find it really peculiar, since NYC is crawling with real diners. I could understand this concept if there were no diners/coffee shops around, such as in, say, Epcot Center, or the UK or Italy or something....IMHO, it%26#39;s like starting a chain in London called ';London Pub';, featuring pub food and the settings of an acutal London pub!

Here are some of my local faves:

Morningside

Skylight

Tick Tock (not that great, but it looks the part)

Chelsea Gallery

Joe%26#39;s

Look them up on Menupages

BTW, there is a diner in Brooklyn called the Brooklyn Diner that is not part of the above chain.

Thank you all

Just what I was looking for !!

Cheers

Roj

More that come to mind:

Olympic Diner

Red Flame

Cosmic

Ellen%26#39;s Stardust has singing waitstaff and looks ';the part'; of a typical chrome-filled diner. (Established by a former ';Miss Subways';)

I was just about to post a thread about this! I%26#39;ll definitely be checking out an authentic diner when I stay in December. *squee* :)
