Hot chips and salsa - question for the NY Salseros

Hi there, I%26#39;m going to be in NY this month. Wanted to check out the dance club scene, especially Salsa. Can anyone recommend a good place? I am staying in Midtown East. Thx.

Hot chips and salsa - question for the NY Salseros

Well, the classic salsa venues are S.O.B%26#39;s (aka Sounds of Brazil) and Copacabana. Gonzalez y Gonzalez (restaurant) has a salsa night.

BTW, there are also many dance schools that have regular very popular salsa nights (dress-up, etc.), such as Steppin%26#39; Out Studios (where I took very basic salsa and mambo lessons years ago. Great school.).

Also, you need to figure out whether you are a NYC/Puerto Rican ';break-on-2'; dancer or a L.A./Cuban ';break-on-1'; dancer, or if you can do both.

Calendars, venues, and good explanations of ';break-on-2';:

(Can%26#39;t we all just get along?) ;o)
