Staten Island Ferry

We would like to take a night time ride on the Staten Island Ferry. Is this a worthwhile trip. We will be staying at the Embassy Suites. can you walk to the Staten Island Ferry terminal from there? If so how would we get there, if not what is the best way to get there? We leave for NYC tomorrow afternoon! We will arrive at the hotel around 8:00pm and thought a ride on the ferry might be a nice way to start the trip. We are a family of 4 (2 girls 10 and 13).

Staten Island Ferry

Yes, you can walk it. I wouldn%26#39;t go too, too late, since the area gets boring and dead and closed down after around 9 pm.

The most pleasant way to walk is also not the most direct - walk south along the Hudson River walkway until you end up going to the tip of the island. You%26#39;ll eventually get to the ferry terminal. This should take about 20 - 30 minutes depending on how you walk or if you take pictures. etc.

Staten Island Ferry

This for me is almost must do for tourists and non-tourists alike. It is free absolutely no charge. The views are nice too, a look at the statue of liberty, at night the skyline lit. Staten Island is the brunt of jokes sometimes but I spent a day exploring-, there is a nice university there and a real middle american mall. bus service immediately from the ferry docks.

The walk down to the Ferry Terminal from Embassy Suites is totally fab. We did that walk everyday after breakfast to catch the subway from Bowling Green, even though it%26#39;s not the closest Subway to the hotel. It%26#39;s such a beautiful walk and a great way to try to burn off some of the massive breakfast you%26#39;ll get at Embassy Suites!!!
