New York Hotel

Suggestions for inexpensive hotel for 5 day stay- have daughter and 3 of her college friends traveling to New York in December and of course on college budget. Any suggestions for Hotels in Safe and good area of New York yet inexpensive? Maybe close to subways for transportation. Since I have never been to New York I have these awful thoughts of them booking somewhere cheap, but will be in bad area.

Hotel Newton has recieved good reviews from these pages.(look at there web site with photos) What do you consider inexpensive? Must you have certain ammenities? There are all kinds of hotels from hostels to world class

I would NOT recommend the Hotel Penn or the Milford Plaza.

What is their budget? If for 4 girls, will they all be willing to share a bed? When in Dec.? They should know that Dec. is prob. the busiest and most expensive time. Usually cheaper after the 18th if they can go toward the end of the month.

Radiocityapartments.com is a bargain and very central if they can get a suite there.
