transport and sightseeing in the city

HI, this board is great for informative posts and now i am looking for help! please could i have hot tip for transfers from jfk to hotel (we will be staying at milford plaza). As we are only in nyc for 3 days i am interested in booking a tour to make sure we cover most things. Should i book in uk or wait until we arrive, we don%26#39;t really want red open top bus as in london as it could be cold in nov, and it would be great to have abit more luxury!

For you expert shoppers with inside knowledge our main shopping will be for ski wear for our winter holiday, i have tried searching ski shops in nyc but not having any luck! don%26#39;t fancy the woodbury common as i think it will take up too much of our valuable day and would love to take in greenwich vill, little italy etc while we are there.

thank you in advance Julie - UK

transport and sightseeing in the city

OK deep breath - I%26#39;ll always get a cab (yellow of course) from JFK. unless it%26#39;s gone up it was a flat rate of $45 from JFK to any midtown hotel (give them $60 and your toll and tip are covered)

I know you said u didn%26#39;t want buses but last time I was there we did the red buses, you get a 48 hour ticket for $50. We did the uptown, downtown and night tours on 1 day, the next day we did the Brooklyn tour and then because it was hop on hop off we used them as a cheap taxi for the rest of the day (we just left a $5 tip each time we got off)

Each tour lasts roughly 2 hours and are really informative

But try and squeeze the 3 hour harbour cruise in as well, it is wonderful

Can%26#39;t help on shopping I still kinda wing it myself

How%26#39;s that ??

To find out the expected temperature in NYC during your visit, look at one of the weather sites. I like www.accuweather.com (the zip code for looking at NYC is 10001) but there are any number of others.
