Where to meet someone at Penn Station?

We have tickets to The View on Wednesday. Two of us are taking the Northeast Coridor train from Hamilton, NJ and the other two are taking the regional rail from Phildelphia. Where would be a good place to meet in Penn Station before taking the #1 subway to 66th St? Our trains arrive within minutes of each other. Also any recommendations for a nearby place for lunch after the show?

Oh this should be easy :-) Amtrak has a glass enclosed waiting area set aside exclusively for its passengers (you have to show your Amtrak ticket in order to be admitted), across from the Amtrak ticketing counters.

What sort of lunch place do you want? Casual? Fancy? What kind of food? Do you realize you%26#39;ll get out long before it%26#39;s lunchtime?

Thanks for your quick reply! Those of us coming from Hamilton are traveling NJTransit - is that Amtrak? If so that will be easy. If not, we cannot get in to the Amtrak waiting area so do you have another suggestion? I know nothing about the trains or Penn Station, obviously, so if I gave the wrong information please bear with me.

I think the ';regional train from Phil.'; is Amtrak but your train from Hamilton is NJ transit. Cockle Cove will have to come back to help. ;)

In general NJ Transit uses the same train platforms as Amtrak.

You%26#39;ll have to orient yourself when you get off the train.

There is a giant train schedule board for Amtrak and NJ Transit passengers. Nearby are the ticket windows for Amtrak.

Just ask someone where the Amtrak ticket windows are - closer to the 8th Avenue side - and wait for each other under the giant board.

There is also a McDonalds on the side Penn Station closer where you will be taking the #1 subway. You could also wait there.

Sorry, because ';Northeast Corridor'; also exists in Amtrak%26#39;s lexicon, I breezed over the reference to a departure from Hamilton which is served only by NJ Transit. The NJ Transit passengers will not arrive upstairs from that platform in exactly the same area as the Amtrak passengers. But, the huge train arrival/departure board which hangs down from the ceiling in Penn Station -- right by the Amtrak waiting area I mentioned -- would be, as broadwaynyc suggests, a central meeting spot easy for all to find.

Amtrak and NJ Transit trains share the same platforms.

Depending on which elevator or staircase you use to ascend - not whether you are on Amtrak or NJ Transit -, you may end up on the level just above the platforms or the level above that level which is also the level with the waiting areas and ticket windows.

Also, depending on whether you are towards the front of the NJ Transit train or towards the back of the NJ Transit train, you may also end up in the newer 7th Avenue Concourse.

Since I ride the NJ Transit Northeast Corridor trains and have been on Amtrak from Baltimore and Philadelphia, these are the different scenarios I have personally experienced.

Unfortunately, I haven%26#39;t been able to find an online map of Penn Station. So describing it sounds confusing.

The following link gives an excellent explanation of the NJTransit NEC line. world.nycsubway.org/us/njtransit/nec.html

Lunch afterwards: for a sit-down place, you can check out O%26#39;Neal%26#39;s.

There are also a number of places on Amsterdam or Columbus Avenues, in the 70s.

For some great burgers, but super casual, try Big Nick%26#39;s on Broadway @ 77th
