NY in four days - what are the must do's?

Hi I have never been to New York before and will be arriving on Saturday 28th October and leaving on Wednesday 1st November.

Could you please advise me of the things that I must do in this short space of time. I realise that I won%26#39;t get everything done but need to prioritise, so unfortunately shopping may have to wait.

Thank you very much for any help in advance,

Annette

NY in four days - what are the must do's?

try to search this forum..there are many suggestions from NYC experts!

Museums are a must for me: MOMA,54th St.;Metropolitan Museum of Art(walk thru Central Park,if you visit here);Museum of Natural History(81st.; great gift shops in all museums,for unique shopping);Museum of the City of NY(104th St).

Times Square;The View(rotating view of Manhattan,for drinks @ sunset);the Algonquin(famous for literary ';round table';)

Rockefeller Center:Top of the Rock observation deck;Radio City;

World Trade site/St.Paul%26#39;s/Wall St./Fraunces Tavern/South St.Seaport,ferry to Libert,and or Ellis Island.

the Village,Bleecker St.

of course,this is my ';must'; list!! you will find so many opinions! you will have to narrow it down-don%26#39;t worry,you%26#39;ll have a wonderful time!

oops..';Liberty..';

Thanks gioiellini - sounds great! I appreciate your time,

Annette

we were here for 5 days in August, must do%26#39;s ----- Sunday morning in Central Park, have lunch at the boat house, -- afternoon Top of the Rock, and maybe some shopping. Monday go south to Ground Zero and on to Greenwich Village have lunch near washington Square park --- afternoon Circle line Cruise (various intineries including statue and Ellis}, Tuesday go shopping lunch in Bryant Park --- Afternoon Whatever You want.

Places to eat --Sardis and/or Carmines near Times Square ) either 44 or 42 st

place for a drink st Andrews bar on W44st.

Hope this helps ---- you will love it

Theres an awefull lot to do in four days. It would be usefull to sit down and plan a daily itinerary and try to stick to it. We have just returned from our first trip to the US. We spent three weeks travelling and took in 5 nights in NYC.

Must does are

shopping

ESB but not at weekends-evenings as the queues are fearsome

Top of the rock-a much better tour than the ESB in my opinion,more room,more relaxed,better views

Take an all loops grayline tour only $39 and you can hop on/hop off so you get around better. Also the tour guides are great sources of info and very entertaining.

MOMO-worth a visit. Go early just before opening time

Central park-ok but over rated in my opinion

Staten island ferry-best value freebie on the island!

Ground Zero-worth a visit but the truth is,its just a big hole in the ground now and a mega construction site. Needs to be visited thought to appreciate the scale of the tragedy

Grand central station-a wonderfull piece of architecture

others can probably suggest loads more..

Your main modes of transport should be walking,walking and more walking. Use the grayline tour to visit/explore other areas. Subway it if you have to. Buses and taxis just get stuck in traffic.

Thank you so much Dooper and Calimerox, I%26#39;m finding it quite overwhelming trecking through these forums so your input is much appreciated!

A must in NYC is a Broadway show - no business like show business! So if you fancy a show, try www.broadwaybox.com for great discounts on shows and theater tickets, as well as listings and reviews and other big apple activities.

Just taken your good advice, booked tickets for phantom at the Majestic Theatre through that website.

I got row AA on the right Orchestra, think they are good seats and only cost $188.50 for three for everything!

They are to celebrate a 30th and a 40th birthday so will keep them as a surprise. Thanks for the tip, can%26#39;t wait to go now...!
