Day 3

Ok, we really wanted to see the statue of Liberty but it%26#39;s far from where we are :( Do you know if we can get a glimpse of it from the Top of the Rock or from the train coming in. I%26#39;d really hate to miss it. It%26#39;s just hard to squeeze everything in.

Is there something else we should really see? Doe it seem like too much is cramed in to our day?

Thanks :)

You want to see the Statue of Liberty?

First thing in the morning on Day 3, after you pack, leave the hotel and head for the subway. Use either the downtown #1 train at 50th and Broadway (which is just a short distance from Seventh Avenue at that point) or the R or W at 49th and Seventh. If you use the #1, you must sit in the first five cars -- if you use the R or W, it does not matter as much, but you will exit near the front of the train.

Take the train to the station for the Staten Island Ferry -- for the #1 it is South Ferry, and for the R/W it is Whitehall Street. The 26th is a business day and you will wait no more than 15 minutes for a boat. Take the SI Ferry across the harbor and back. This will take one hour. After the ferry, take the UPTOWN subway back to your starting point. Return to the hotel and check out.

Total time for this whole excursion from start to finish will be about 2 1/2 hours.

Nintendo World is at Rockefella centre..

My husband will probably go to Nintendo World Store while we are at American Girl Place. Does anyone know if the Library is close to The Warwick Hotel?

Thanks for replying you both have been helpful

About the ANNIE tickets - try signing up for the brodawaybox.com free newsletter. Right now they have quite the discount on ANNIE, ending at the 22nd, though. I wouldn%26#39;t expect at discount on your date, being that it%26#39;s christmas. Still, worth a shot.

here are some ideas i have for you for your trip....

when you arive at Penn Station go to the lugage check and leave your stuff while you go to the WTC site. the cost is $4.50 a piece and they will keep it all day. they do not take plastis bags and boxes.while at Penn pick up a take along lunch from one of the many places within the station.

next, take the E train on the blue line the WTC site. once there, make sure you visit the small visitor center on Liberty str.the cost is a donation of your choosing.

to see the statue of liberty the ideal way is to take a boat, but if you go south on Trinity and continue down to Battery Park you will be able to see it in the harbor. from Battery park you can take a ferry that will take you out there, but the wait to actually see the statue is very long....

tickets to the top of the rock are $20,but i don%26#39;t know if you can reserve a specific time.

the library is on w 53rd, across from the MOMA, just a few blocks away from rockefeller center.

for dinner there are many choices of well knows fast food and family type restaurants around time square(applebees, hard rock cafe, mcdonalds, olive garden

BUT time square is absolutely crazy and loud,

so if you are looking for a more quiet place go to the village or the upper west side(broadway north of columbus circle)

both are easy to get to by subway and are more calm in comparison

save the subway for very long trips and take a cab when it is a matter of 10-20 blocks.it%26#39;s a bit more but worth it not having to fight your way down into the subway system with a small child.

Thanks everyone! You are so helpful. I%26#39;m so glad I found this site!

I%26#39;m considering changing my train departure for a later time. What are the odds of our hotel holding our luggage/shopping bags until later that evening, even though we checked out at noon?

We bought the Annie tickets. We have Section 200,Row B,seats 11-13. I really hope these are good seats. I%26#39;m so excited to be going to NY! I%26#39;ve only been in MD(lived here my whole life) also, PA and VA to amusment parks for school trips when I was younger. Pathetic. I know . lol

I%26#39;m thinking about getting Christmas Spectacular tickets for Christmas Day. I%26#39;m not sure.
