Penultimate part of fab trip

2.10.06

Had a bit of a lie in this morning. Almost 3 weeks of being on the move was definitely taking it鈥檚 toll. Went down to Union Sq as I quite fancied trying Chat 鈥榥鈥機hew. Helen had loved this place when she was here in June so I thought I鈥檇 give it a go for breakfast鈥?or so I thought. When we got there, the chap said they didn鈥檛 open till 11.30 (although their website does say 11) and when I asked if they served breakfasts, he said they didn鈥檛. I think it may have been a misunderstanding of accents. Anyway, not to be disappointed, we headed off to Big Daddy鈥檚 again for the great home fries. Chat鈥檔鈥機hew will have to go on the ever growing list of UB. After refuelling we headed off to Macys and 5th Ave to buy a bag for the ever growing amount of things we鈥檇 accumulated on the 3 week adventure.

As it was a very clear day we took the opportunity to go to the TOTR taking advantage of the money off coupon being given out at the booths at Rock Center. The ice rink was just being laid, they had the water pipes and everything ready to go. The Sky Mirror was good fun and was attracting lots of photographers (including David). Off into the building and straight up in the lift. Within 10 minutes we were at the top, and the views were incredible. Central Park looks fantastic in the summer (it was New Year鈥檚 Day when we were last here) and there were so many people enjoying the fantastic weather we were having. Spent quite a long time just enjoying the sunshine and views.

After dumping new luggage, headed off to meet Lou, Steve and MMM at totally the wrong place! Lou and Steve turned up, and after wandering around in circles for a ridiculous length of time we decided to go straight to Julius鈥?where we found MMM at the bar. The poor woman had given up her time and we鈥檇 left her standing where we should have been for ages. Sorry MMM鈥攁gain! Anyway, she was a peach, and took us all off for a stroll in the village. What that woman doesn鈥檛 know obviously isn鈥檛 important. It was a real treat. Saw some TV/Film unit and all the dressing rooms and being a nosy so-and-so I had to ask what they were filming. Apparently it鈥檚 for the new series 6 Degrees. That鈥檚 not on here yet, but I鈥檒l be watching out for it. Back to Julius鈥?to meet whoever was going to turn up.

This was one great night. Cheers to all the regulars and staff, they made us all welcome. So welcome in fact that the chef has changed his name to Daisiegee, and Steve hopefully has a picture of the new Daisiegee with the old Mr Daisiegee to prove it.( and he cooks a canny burger)

It was lovely meeting SueFee and her other half and the Belfast contingent with Katang. It was a pleasure (as always) to see NY10025 and NYCgirl. NYCgirl was very helpful showing us the dance moves to the NY Vogue. Lou and I will be seen at various clubs around the country performing. A really nice chap called Tom gave us a talk on the history of the bar. I can鈥檛 thank MMM enough for organising this evening as everyone who was there seemed to enjoy themselves no end. Thanks MMM

Once again, we enjoyed meeting you and David! Glad to hear that we%26#39;re not the only ones who have been confused by restaurants that say they serve breakfast and when you get there---they%26#39;re closed! So I know how frustrating that can be! Hope you both have fully recuperated and are back in the swing of things. For us--it%26#39;s a slow process--still have to go through the piles of (junk) mail LOL!

Hey, I saw you %26amp; Lou doing those dance moves on the internet, stop stealing my moves, ok??

Yeah, but weren%26#39;t we good?

I really shouldn%26#39;t be reading the rest of your reports, as it only makes me jealous, and sorry I wasn%26#39;t here. At least your list of UB is growing.

So when are you coming next or is the next trip to Buenos Aires?

I can%26#39;t wait to see Steve%26#39;s picture of Joe - oops I mean the new Daisiegee with the utterly charming Mr. Daisiegee! Glad a good time was had by all! I do look forward to seeing you again in the near future! It was wonderful to sit and chat with SueFee and Mr. SueFee and NY10025, NYCGirl and Wheezie, as well as those folks from Durham! Didn%26#39;t get to chat much with the Belfast contingent, but perhaps next time.

Wheezie and I met on Saturday night for dinner at the Atlantic Chip Shop in Brooklyn - she had Fish %26amp; Chips and I had the Shepherds Pie - and she drank Tetley%26#39;s while I had cider. Yummy all around. Although she did have a few tears as the Yanks lost. Ah well, we%26#39;ve still got the Mets to cheer for.

Ta folks - and best to you both!

Three weeks on the hoof must%26#39;ve been exhausting. Phew.

I would love to see the Sky Mirror. It looks so cool.

Your evening in the Village with MMM and Co sounded memorable ;-)

Thanks Daisiegee.

The whole thing sounds just fantastic. Waiting patiently (not) for photos. ;;)
