Hi, I am planning a trip to New York City for next year. I know from reading different books and on the internet that we will have to book some shows, etc well in advance because they sell out. We are looking at going when it%26#39;s not too cold or hot and from reading on this website, it looks like May-June would be a good and pretty time to go. Can anyone give me advice on planning area to stay that isn%26#39;t too expensive and how far in advance you have to book shows. We haven%26#39;t narrowed down our exact dates yet, which I know we have to do that before we can request tickets to a show. We would prefer not to spend over 300 a night on hotel, it%26#39;s for 3 girls in their late 20s, so definitely 2 double beds at least. Thanks!

1) planning area to stay that isn%26#39;t too expensive
It%26#39;s not so much about area these days, but about the specific hotel. The best budget options fill up quickly. At this point one of the best options for 3 girls traveling and wanting to do a lot of theater would be the ever popular Radio City apartments. It%26#39;s right near Rockefeller Center so very centrally located to theaters, Times Square, Fifth Ave., Central Park, but not IN Times Square. Their rooms are like apts. with kitchens and have a bit of extra space. Right now you could even get a 2 bedroom apt. there for under $300/night. radiocityapartments.com
If you%26#39;re interested in clubbing and nightlife, you might prefer staying further downtown in a younger area. The Hotel on Rivington is on the lower east side, an area with lots of good bars and restaurants.
The Affinia.com hotels are also all suite hotels with apt . type rooms for some extra space dotted around midtown.
So to help you further, we%26#39;d need to know how fancy a hotel you%26#39;d like, and what are your prime must dos.

I have been recommended the Radio City Apartments and I thought those looked pretty good. You also gave me some other options to look into. We will definitely go out but we don%26#39;t have to stay right next to the bars. We will also want to do the Tourist attractions, catch at least one broadway play/musical, maybe David Letterman and/or Sat Night Live tickets, and attend a Yankee game. Hopefully that helps a little bit......if not, I can be more specific as well.

SNL stops taping for the season mid may
I tried to look at the SNL for more information on tickets but didn%26#39;t see anything. Does anyone know if these are a request basis as well?
We went in September and the weather was lovely (25 celcius). If you are interested in shows /tapings, the Jon Stewart show is free and you apply for tickets on their website. But you have to tell them when you%26#39;ll be in NY. And also go early - its first come first serve, even if you have a ticket.
We went to see Spamalot (if you%26#39;re into Brit humor). It was ecxellent and didn%26#39;t prebook tickets. Went to the Tourist Centre in Time Sq and bought tickets there for the same night.
hey me and my 2 friends are going to new york in feb/march next year we are 3 girls in 20,s we got a good deal on a triple room at the wolcott hotel its near madison square gardens i think the website is www.wolcott.com if thats not it you can just google it,
we found it quuite difficult to find accomodation travelling as 3 its really different over here they do triple and family rooms everywhere
good luck
SNL tickets are determined through a lottery, lottery sign up time has passed for this season it is in the month of August they take requests only but the actual tickets are drawn through a lottery
if you want to try stand by either to the dress or live show line up friday morning or afternoon, depending on who the guest is and musical group u may have a chance of gettin it but stand by is not guaranteed they hand out number for live and dress shows at 7 am on saturday morning, Sometimes not any stand bys get in and ticket holders are turned away also, this happens several times
Show-wise, You can subscribe to the www.broadwaybox.com free newsletter. You%26#39;ll get constant offers on discount tickets and be able to buy what you want. They also have listings and reviews if you havn%26#39;t decided on a show yet.
