Hi-
I am planning a suprise weekend trip for my baseball loving hubby in April. We are only going for 2 nights. What do you recommend should be on our ';to-do/see'; list?
planning weekend to Cooperstown-what to do/see?
My baseball-encyclopedia husband and I were there the first week in October and enjoyed the HoF. The B%26amp;B that we stayed at, Daylily Dreams, was great and I imagine it is absolutely gorgeous in the spring.
We enjoyed driving to Fly Creek Cider Mill, just a few minutes north of the downtown area. Not sure what they%26#39;ll have going on in the spring.
If you are into antiques - baseball, but mostly others - Wooden Bull antiques in Milford could provide you with a good treasure hunt. It has a three-story barn with numerous outdoor items (old and new).
We enjoyed driving around Lake Otsego as well.
If you like Italian food, I highly recommend Nicoletta%26#39;s Italian Cafe, right on Main Street. I had the best linguini and clams I have ever tasted. The lightly breaded artichoke hearts hearts on field greens appetizer was also great. Not a cheap place to eat, but impeccable service and food.
The Doubleday Cafe, again right on Main Street near Doubleday Field, was a great lunch choice. I would avoid T.J.%26#39;s Grill for food - our meal there was expensive for what we received and it was just so-so. However, they did have a good selection of cheap sweatshirts and t-shirts.
Enjoy your trip!
