Best time ever!!!!!!!!! Thanks for all your help!

I really need to thank all you guys for all your tips and help. This was the BEST HOLIDAY ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, I shouldn%26#39;t really call it a holiday - we were shattered! But in a good way!

We stayed in the Wellington Hotel, which was lovely. I was concerned about its negative posting, but we had no probs. I can advise to ask for a non smoking room, facing 7th ave. They are the best and its very exciting to hang out of the window if you are jetlagged. So much action!

I can also highly recommend the 48 hour sight seeing tour with the Brooklyn night tour. Seeing the night lights as you leave Manhattan is like being a fairy, flying nect to twinkles of light beams. I even put my camera down, just to really take it all in! Taking good pics at night on a bus is a waste of time - everything came out blurred. Just sit back and take it all in.

I can also highly recommend the On Location Movie tour. Go to the meeting place early and have breakfast at Ellen%26#39;s Stardust diner. It%26#39;s an experience in itsself. They cerenade you. Its like Caberet at breakfast! The tour guide gives you alot of gos and behind the scenes info. A must for any movie and tv fan!

Also went to a taping for the Jon Stewart show. Please make sure that you are there HOURS in advance. The queue is forever and there is no guarentee that you will get in, but its worth it. If you are disabled. Please let the show know via email and take your reply with you. They will let you in early and you can sit down and skip the queue (sometimes diability can count in your favour).

Always buckle up in a taxi. Those guys are crazy! They only know %26#39;stop%26#39; and %26#39;go%26#39;, but it does save you alot of walking. If it%26#39;s raining, its hard to get a taxi. Just go and stand by a hotel entrance and let the doorman do the work. Don%26#39;t forget to tip him.

NY ers are very friendly people, especially in the shops. All Brits who work in retail can take a leave from their books! They make you feel like a VIP even if they are only doing it for the commision. Much better in NY than in UK.

The only thing that is overrated in my opinion is the horse and carriage ride. Very expensive and not that exciting. We could hardly hear our guide talk, so we just sat there and stared.

Loved going up the TOTR. No queues and the view is out of this world. Also did the Statue of Liberty via the free Staten Island Ferry. Why pay for the same view?

All in all, no complaints at all. Will go back tomorrow if I could. Oh. if you are looking for a romantic restaurant with piano player an all, go to One if by Land, Two if by Sea. I impressed the pants off my husband for finding this gem. A little pricey, but the best food and service you could ask for. Our bill (incl. 拢30 tip) came to 拢230, but so worth it!

We also went to see Spamalot. Oh my God!!!! WHat a treat!!!!!!!!!! It was much cheaper than I thought. We bought out tickets in Time Sq at the tourist centre. The theatre is quite small, so you are guarenteed a good view from any seat!

Thanks again everyone. I will be coming again!

PS if you see my name pop up again on this site in the coming weeks, I%26#39;m not crazy, i%26#39;ve given my log in detatils to a friend who will be coming for the Halloween parade!

Best time ever!!!!!!!!! Thanks for all your help!

Glad everything worked out, that your trip was great, and that you plan to come back.

Perfect.

Best time ever!!!!!!!!! Thanks for all your help!

Glad you had a good time. Y%26#39;all come back for more New York hospitality!

What an exciting trip! Excellent advice about forgetting the camera and just enjoying the moment.

Tell your friend to bring a costume and be part of the parade, it%26#39;s better than trying to fight the crowds along the sidelines. Nothing store-bought will do, though.

Congratulations on a successful trip! Great summary.

Where else did you eat? (That%26#39;s a popular question here. Perhaps you have other recos?)

Also, did you use the subway? If so, what MetroCard did you buy and was it diffficult to use? (Another popular query here.)

';I impressed the pants off my husband for finding this gem.';...Hello, over-share? But, hey, more power to ya. Glad we could help in that department.

;o)

So about the Daily Show - I was expecting to go, but I wasnt planning on getting there until maybe 1/2 hour before it starts. Would I potentially not have a seat?

Also, what time and how long did it go for? Wanna know if we can hit an 8:00 show afterward

Rubo 1

1/2 hour way too short! We got there by 4pm and the queue was already around the bend. The taping was at 5pm. It was a great experience though. I would suggest a book and snacks to keep you going in the queue.

Another restaurant I can highly recommend was Daisy May%26#39;s BBQ at 623 11th ave. A great place to go after Jon Stewart as its just down the road.

Its not a posh place, but that%26#39;s what makes it so grat! Try the Beef rib. I dare you to finish it! Don%26#39;t be concerned that the plastic cutlery won%26#39;t cut through the meat - it falls off the bone!!!!

A Must!!!!!!!!
