Apologies to hrhweezie and mmm510

Just arrived home. We really must apologise we didn%26#39;t make the Brooklyn meet on Saturday. We mislaid the address (found it when I was unpacking - maybe not such a good idea to give it to youngest member of the group). We walked the bridge over to Brooklyn but missed the tour we had planned to take (hubbies brthday was the previous nite and it had been a late one!!). Took the subway to Grand Army plaze and walked about Prospect Park and Park Slope. Went into a little cafe for coffee and asked if anyone knew where the Atlantic Fish and Chip shop was, no-one knew. We didn%26#39;t realize Brooklyn was so big.! Asked a really helpful guy who directed us towards Atlantic Ave as being a yuppy up and coming place where we might find a fish and chip shop that does beer. We headed there, came up from the subway and turned left - asked lots of people, including a policeman, but no-one could direct us., so eventually we gave up. But I can assure you both we did try until well after five. We dandered around a shopping centre for a while and then headed back to Manhatten - still hungry. So girls once again our sincere apologies. Wendi, if only we%26#39;d have had the sense to get the cellphone numbers sorted. We really enjoyed the nite in the Julius and I am afraid to say were the last to leave (even with the 5 hour time difference). It was great fun to meet everyone and once again sorry we were so looking forward to meeting you both in Brooklyn. Anyhow, jet lagged, off to bed now for a few hours . Just wanted to say sorry . :-( Kate

So glad you made it back home safe and sound - and I guess you had a lovely wander around Brooklyn even if you didn%26#39;t find us - next time we%26#39;ll make better organized plans!

Wendi and I had a great dinner (fish %26amp; chips for her, Shepherd%26#39;s Pie for me) and watched the Yankee game - although that part wasn%26#39;t so great - both chef%26#39;s as well as Wendi and one or two of the wait staff were near tears when the Yankee%26#39;s didn%26#39;t win.

Did enjoy meeting and chatting a bit with you and the family at Julius - I just couldn%26#39;t stay too late. You Belfast folks have remarkable stamina! After a long haul flight and only a cup of tea! Amazing. We%26#39;ll have to make arrangements to do that again.

Sleep tight and I look forward to your report when you%26#39;ve rested up a bit.

Ta. MMM!

Hey Kate - glad you got home safely :) Hope you had a fab time. I for one admired your pure grit and determination in Julius to stay awake - don%26#39;t think I could%26#39;ve done and drank!!!

Rest up and look forward to your report :)

no worries kate. Brooklyn is a lot bigger than most people realize and it can be confusing to get around. I even had a pint or two for you.

It was great to meet you and your family. I hope that your husband had a great birthday and that you had a weonderful trip. I look forward to hearing a full trip report, including you trip to DC. i am impressed that you managed to stay out at Julius for so long, even with the jet lag!!!

we%26#39;ll have to meet up the next time that you are in town!

Wendi

I can%26#39;t believe you all managed to stay out so late, boy you lot are troopers. Really looking forward to the report and a belated Happy Birthday to Martin.
