club for over 35,maybe 80s music

Hi, Going with the girls for the weekend,Some place not to young...Just want to dance and have a good time.Maybe 80s music or rock. Some place kinda nice???Help

club for over 35,maybe 80s music

There aren%26#39;t too many places playing 80%26#39;s music. You%26#39;ll probably hear about Culture Club but it%26#39;s wayyyyyy hit and miss there. The music is from the 80%26#39;s but the crowd is normally the very young bachlorette beyond drunk type. Definitely not what I%26#39;d consider ';kinda nice';.

Fun clubs with a good mix of music and have all ages (my group is 34+ and likes 80%26#39;s too) that you may want to check out: The Whiskey in Time Square; Crobar; Show; or the China Club (another that could be a complete hit or miss)

same age group here too.. and I have said it before, but 1/3 of my trips in are ';with the girls'; for drinking/dancing. (do not live in city and am therefore NOT the expert that most are on nyc topics), but this I do regulary.

we head down to bleeker.. from the street you can hear lots of live music %26amp; find something that suits you. we normally go to backfence %26amp; red lion (we end up here because its always the best). they have live music everynight, fri/sat 2-3 different acts. we always end up dancing there.

sometimes we then venture to culture club (and I agree, it is hit or miss, but we have had some fun there.. cheesy but fun!)

when your trip gets closer check out murphsguide and look for live music, you might find something particular going on that weekend.

If you want the gargantuan NYC dance club experience, try out Crobar or Webster Hall. Two typical venues that don%26#39;t have incredibly stringent door policies. (a plus and a minus.) ;o)

I have heard thast Webster Hall is 80%26#39;s and huge, and supposedly alot of fun especially for that age group.

I was going to say Webster Hall too but it%26#39;s not in the ';kinda nice'; that I think you%26#39;re looking for. My friends and I love it because it%26#39;s huge with different music in the different rooms and it%26#39;s just a bunch of crazy people of all backgrounds looking for a good time vs. a bunch of posers standing around looking bored like at some clubs. The crowd can literally be full of crazies but you definitely won%26#39;t have a dull moment there, just go with an open mind and ready to have fun.

You should also call and make sure they%26#39;re still doing the 80%26#39;s room. It%26#39;s great everytime we go, but the last time we went that room was closed and they said they weren%26#39;t doing it anymore. (something about renovating?)

We are going to try out Culture Club... will let you all know how it goes...I guess acrss the street is SOB... (Sounds of Brazil) and they can have some great music also.

If you want a fun night out, but not necessarily 80%26#39;s music, try Cafe Wha - for all ages, not pretentious, in the West Village on MacDougal Street - just another option for you.

Some also recommend the Red Lion recently and said they had a great time.

Also in the same are is Kenny%26#39;s Castaways %26amp; The Back Porch

Meant to say all of the above are in the same general area of the West Village.

nycgirl, I am so glad I read this.. I am going in this weekend and you just reminded me of cafewha.. I keep trying to get there.. I keep hearing its great, I will try this weekend.

Culture Club was a blast... next time we will try CafeWa...

Also...a funny thing happened on our way...we were driving across 21st just past like 5th or something and there was a police roadblock and sobriety check. A cop at each window asking us were we had come from.....another club...but only drinking water...(honestly!) and then up walks Peter Noth... you know the guy from *** in the City - Mr. Big... he is also on Law and Order... Anyway... he looks in at us... and half joking he says to the cops...';hey what are you doing ... harassing all my customers as they come out of my club?';

he then walked off... he had a stack of papers under his arm...looked like he was coming from a business meeting (at 1:30AM) or something
