Retro/vintage/kitsch/alternative shops & bars?

Hi all,

I%26#39;m going to NY in December and obviously plan to shop shop shop! I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good shops or areas for retro/vintage/kitsch/hippy type accessories, knick-knacks and other bits...?

I%26#39;ve already discovered www.fabulousfannys.com who sell retro glasses frames - will definitely be heading there!

Any other must-visits or good bars (sure there are tons!)?

Thanks!

Check out the flea market on weekends in Chelsea. 25 st. b/w 5th ave %26amp; 7th ave. The Garage (a building) has a lot of kitsch.

Mood Indigo has a place in the antiques building there and also a shop in Soho

There are dozens of thrift shops/consignment shops. Housing Works has several locations. Out of the Closet (on east 81 st) sometimes has some fun things. Here%26#39;s a list of thrift shops

This is one of my favourite stores in NYC for Fiesta, Bakelite, etc.

I also love the Chelsea Antiques building (may be gone now?) and the Antiques Garage. Here is a site listing the Hells Kitchen outdoor market.

Oops, you beat me to it NYWhiz. I took too long writing.

Mr. Pink is a cute shop in Chelsea that sells fun fifties glassware. 223 W. 16th St.

Reminiscence at 50 West 23 street, between 5th and 6th ave has loads of retro toys and clothes.

Thanks for all your help - I%26#39;ll definitely be checking out these places! Getting super excited about going :)
